STC - Supplemental Core Course FEE: 200.00 LOCATION: Varies - See location section for presentation location [MAP] DESCRIPTION: The Board of State Community & Corrections, Adult Corrections Officer (ACO) Supplemental Core Course is designed to satisfy the requirement for Adult Corrections Officers who have attended a POST certified Basic Academy. The following subjects are covered during the course: Constitutional Rights, Civil Rights and Case Law, Classification of Inmates, Contraband, Practical Communications, Defensive Tactics and Restraint Techniques, Booking and Receiving, Releasing Inmates, Maintaining Security, Supervising Inmates, Distribution of Supplies and Commissary, Monitoring Psychological and Physical Health, Suicide Prevention, Crisis Intervention & De-Escalation, Management of Inmate Workers, Screening and Monitoring of Visitors, Screening and Distribution of Mail and Emergency Procedures. All 19 Lesson Plans will be covered in this course. INSTRUCTORS: Instructors include highly experienced Sergeants & Deputy Sheriffs from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Jail Training Officer’s Cadre. All instructors are STC certified and experienced trainers. PREREQUISITES: Students must have completed a POST Regular Basic Course and should be assigned to a full-time position requiring the ACO Supplemental Core course as a part of their duty assignment. PRESENTATIONS DATES: See below for presentation dates. COURSE HOURS: This is an 84-hour course that starts at 0700 each day, end times will vary depending on training topics. Course is Monday – Friday, no weekend training hours required. LOCATION: This course is held in the Santa Rita Jail Training Classroom at 5325 Broder Blvd, Dublin CA 94568. CERTIFICATION: STC: 0073-033690. Tuition complies with STC reimbursement regulations. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students should wear a “BDU” utility type uniform and bring all issued safety equipment. Uniforms and equipment will be required for the entire course. Secure weapon lockers are available for students.
