POST Supervisory Course FEE: $425.00 LOCATION: Alameda County Sheriff's Office - Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin CA 94568 [MAP] DESCRIPTION: This 80-hour comprehensive course is designed to help law enforcement supervisors clarify their role as supervisors and leaders, develop skills to make them more effective, adopt an analytical approach to supervision and identify resources to use on the job. During the course students will:
Students must be prepared for varying class hours to accomplish course objectives. Homework will be assigned requiring students to work hours outside of the allotted classroom time. INSTRUCTORS: This is a facilitated course hosted by supervisory and management personnel from various law enforcement agencies. Subject matter experts will present topics such as critical incidents, stress management and legal issues PREREQUISITES: All prospective students must have completed the POST Basic Course or its equivalent prior to enrollment in the Supervisory Course. All students are encouraged to be currently assigned, or soon to be promoted, law enforcement supervisor. The Supervisory Course is specifically designed for sworn first-level supervisors and meets the POST (PAM Regulation 1005(b) and STC requirements for newly promoted Supervisors. PRESENTATIONS DATES, HOURS: This is an 80-hour course that starts at 0800 each day, Monday thru Friday each week. CERTIFICATION & FEES: POST Plan N/A certified. POST Cert #1010-00400. STC Cert #0073-03110620. Students received 4 semester units fromChabot College. Effective July 1, 2019, P.O.S.T. will no longer reimburse for this course. P.O.S.T. will instead partially subsidize the course. The listed tuition takes the subsidy into account. Student tuition is $425.00.00. This includes the Chabot College fee. Tuition is payable in a single check to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office. Payment is due no later than the first day of class. COLLEGE CREDITS: 4.5 Chabot College Units on completion of course. Acceptable student attire for this course are slacks and collared shirt, or female equivalent. No shorts, hooded sweatshirts, sleeveless shirts or open toed shoes are permitted. Students are asked to bring electronic versions of their departmental employee evaluation. Students must bring a laptop computer to this course, to prepare the evaluation, employee improvement plan, and group presentation. Please bring a copy of your agency’s evaluation form. RESERVATIONS: This course is limited to 30 students and reservations will be made on a first come, first served basis. Use the "Register for Class" link to submit reservations on-line.
