ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: All students are expected to complete courses in their entirety. This includes assigned hours and assignments/projects that may be given to the students by the instructors. In the case of an unforeseen absence such as an emergency, the student shall not be considered completing the course if he/she misses more than 10% of the course hours. The exception is the Regular Basic Course or Academy which is 5% of the course hours. Course Instructors may assign students additional projects and or work to satisfy minimum attendance hours with the approval of the RTC Captain. REGISTRATION: To register for classes at the RTC please utilize our web-based registration system. The RTC website can be easily accessed via the internet at https://www.sheriffacademy.com. The various course listings are accessible by passing the cursor over the course category buttons, which causes specific course listings to drop below each category. Selecting the desired course listing, opens a course description page. Each course description page contains a button "[Register for Class]" that activates a link enabling the student/ Agency Training Manager to register for a course. Certain hosted courses will link to the respective presenter's web registration or contact information. Alameda County's Tax Payer Identification Number is 94-6000501. Basic Course Academy Recruit Training registrants should refer to the specific registration requirements for this course. The requirements for courses are located through the web-based Basic Course Academy Recruit Training link [Basic Police Academy]. For prospective students who do not have internet access, registration can be accomplished via phone. Please contact the Regional Training Center at (925) 551-6970 to register. STUDENT DRESS CODE: Unless otherwise specified in the course description, the student dress code at the Regional Training Center is business casual. No shorts, sleeveless shirts or open toed shoes are permitted. CANCELLING REGISTRATION: To cancel a registration for a course, please notify the Regional Training Center via e-mail or phone. E-mail cancellations can be directed to rtcinfo@sheriffacademy.com and phone cancellations to (925) 551-6970. In all cases, course cancellations less than 5 business days' prior to class start date, will be subject to a course cancellation fee equal to 50% of the course tuition. Students who fail to attend the course without cancelling prior to the start of the course (No Show) will be charged the full course tuition. TUITION AND PAYMENT: Course tuition is due no later than the first day of class. Clients are encouraged to issue one check for each tuition being paid. Clients who pre-pay multiple tuitions in a single check are advised that the entire check will be deposited on the first day of the first course being paid by the check. Once the check is deposited for future tuitions, there are no refunds for future courses. The pre-paid tuition can be applied to any course at the RTC. The RTC accepts in person credit card payments for various types of debts owed the RTC. Credit card payment will not be accepted via telephone or other means where the card holder is not present (ie, email, fax, other electronic communications.) The RTC accepts credit and debit cards issued by Visa or Mastercard and Discover credit cards. Visa Credit/Debit, Discover, MasterCard Credit/Debit consumer fees are $1.50 for transactions of $60.00 or less and 2.49% for transactions $60.01 and over. No refunds are issued for a course once the course has begun. The RTC will return pre-paid tuition checks when students are cancelled with at least 5 business days' notice. RE-SCHEDULING OF COURSES: Re-scheduling may be accomplished in the same manner as the registration procedures described above. LOCATION: Most all classes are located at the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin, CA 94568. RESERVATIONS & LODGING: Most all courses have a student limit and reservations must be made on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations must be made by the student's agency training officer. Reservations for lodging must be arranged by the student or his/her agency Alameda County Sheriff's Office Regional Training Center (sheriffacademy.com) Since 1996, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office has voluntarily participated in the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Law Enforcement Accreditation program. A part of this process includes an opportunity for public feedback which was previously accomplished with in person interviews once every 3-4 years.
